Thanks for the shout out! You make an interesting argument, though in the end I'm probably more sympathetic to Yarvin than Dreher. Totally support the Fuentes hate though
Ah I appreciate that! Your article on Tolkien was very delightful. I justify my disdain for Yarvin on the basis that, as I discuss, he’s a small ripple in the water, barks more than he bites, and his anti-Enlightenment ideology is completely framed by a post-Enlightenment humanism. Dreher is actually a pretty influential writer and, as I mention, his strategy is quite medieval in spirit. At any rate, my biggest is concern is that men of principle don’t degrade into a provincial Old Yellerism, but work to actually build something meaningful. Like Tolkien said, the hands of a king are the hands of a healer, and by Jove do we need more kingly men. (:
Fair enough man. I have my problems with Dreher as a guy, but as for his ideas, the big thing is that it’s the Hobbit option. Totally fine actually, and maybe the right thing for some people, but you need your rangers (or Yarvin’s Dark Elves) to ensure they can keep doing it. Keep up the good work though
